One who Finally Learned
34 And at the end of
the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine
understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the
Most High, and I praised and honored Him that
liveth for ever; for His dominion, is an everlasting
dominion, and His kingdom from generation to
generation; 35 and all the inhabitants of the earth
are reputed as nothing; and He doeth according to
His will in the army of heaven, and among the
inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay His
hand, or say unto Him, What doest Thou?
Daniel 4:34,35
King Nebuchadnezzar thought he was a great one, but after he had been driven out from living among men, by his Creator, and was made to live as an animal for seven years, eating grass as oxen, his body being wet with the dew of heaven, till his hair was grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails grew to be as long as birds' claws!
The above statement was made by him after he was allowed to come back to his senses by God! I would say that the Creator humbled him, wouldn't you? But this is our problem also! We are all full of pride, and don't want to turn away from all teachings except our Creator's! Think about it. God is not going to strike us today like He did King Nebuchadnezzar, but He expects us to use our minds properly in studying His inspired Word, and applying it to our lives in order to please Him.
One Who Finally Obeyed
9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his
chariots, and stood at the door of the house of
Elisha. 10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him,
saying, Go and wash in the Jordan seven times,
and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou
shalt be clean. 11 But Naaman was wroth, and
went away and said,
Behold, I thought, He willsurely come out to me, and stand, and call on the
name of Jehovah his God, and wave his hand over
the place, and recover the leper. 12 Are not
Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus,
better than all the waters of Israel? May I not wash
in them, and be clean? So he turned and went
away in a rage. 13 And his servants came near,
and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the
prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest
thou not have done it? How much rather then,
when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? 14 Then
went he down, and dipped himself seven times in
the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of
God; and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of
a little child, and he was clean. II Kings 5:9-14
Can you see how Naaman wanted it to happen the way HE thought it should? We are like that a lot today! We want God to save us the way WE think He should! But we need to go to His inspired Word and find out how He has chosen to save us!
That phrase: 'Behold, I Thought', is going to be repeated by millions of people in the judgment day, but it won't get us into heaven! We must do God's Will His way, not man's way!
