THE LOVE OF GOD
Perhaps the most amazing thing you can ever try to fathom in this life is the incomprehensible reality of the love of God toward mankind! Verses 2 and 3 of a hymn written by F. M. Lehman says it better than anything else I've found:
3. Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Tho' stretched from sky to sky.
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall for evermore endure -
The saint's and angels' song.
2. When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall;
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call;
God's love, so sure, shall still endure,
All measure-less and strong;
Re-deeming grace to Adam's race-
The saints' and angel's song.
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall for evermore endure -
The saint's and angels' song.
When we study God's inspired Word we find a passage that sums up God's love toward us in
JOHN 3:16 . Many other passages show us this great wonderful love of our Creator toward us, even though we did not deserve such a magnificent love!
