A comment on _____'s thought about 'a dependency need'
>These groups usually have high standards of discipline.
Idealistic young people love to be >challenged to tough standards even
though they scream that they want to be left to do >their own thing.
>A need for high levels of discipline
sounds like a dependency need.
If you look at a 'Thesaurus' you find that the word
'dependence' means: 'acquiescence, compliance, obedience, subjection, and
submission. I believe the Bible shows us that God challenges us to have 'tough
standards' for Him! The more I study His Word, the more I see encouragement
from Him to have 'high levels of discipline'! And if that is a 'dependency
need' then so be it!
I want to have a 'dependency need' toward my
Creator, my Father, my Saviour! I want to please Him above all else! Now if I
want to do that, I had 'better' have a 'high level of discipline' Jesus said;
"If ye love Me, ye will keep My commandments" (John 14:15).
But you are definitely correct when you apply your thought to a religious human
organization and human doctrines! Our dependency should be upon our God, not
upon men, or what they devise.
May God receive all of the glory, both now, and forevermore.
Yours in Christ,
David
