THE UNSEARCHABLE GOD

Romans 11:33-36

"33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past tracing out! 34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? 35 or who hath first given to Him, and it shall be recompensed unto Him again? 36 For of Him, and through Him, and unto Him, are all things. To Him be the glory for ever. Amen."

  1. By unsearchable we do not mean that man cannot ever know about God.
  1. Thomas Huxley in 1870 coined the word 'Agnostic', meaning: Unknown, unknowable. "An agnostic is one who believes that the human mind cannot know whether there is a God, or an ultimate cause, or anything beyond material phenomena."

Job 5:8,9; 11:7,8

" 8 But as for me, I would seek unto God, And unto God would I commit my cause; 9 Who doeth great things and unsearchable, Marvelous things without number..."

" 7 Canst thou by searching find out God? Canst thou find out the almighty unto perfection? 8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? Deeper than Sheol; what canst thou know?

Psalms 145: 1-3

"I will extol Thee, my God, O King; And I will bless Thy Name for ever and ever. 2 Every day will I bless Thee and I will praise Thy Name for ever and ever. 3 Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable."
