A.   But the most important area of all, the salvation of our souls, also has a standard of authority, and that standard is the inspired Word of God, the Holy Bible.

    1. In religion, there are only TWO sources of authority; one is right, the other is wrong: MATTHEW 21:23-27

1.     If it is from Heaven, it is from God the Father: JAMES 1:17,18.

2.     If it is from the Father, it is through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ: HEBREWS 1:1,2.

(A) CHRIST - ALL AUTHORITY:

MATTHEW 7:28,29 & EPHESIANS 1:20-23

MATTHEW 17:1-5 & COLOSSIANS 1:18-23

MATTHEW 28:18-20 & COLOSSIANS 3:17

ACTS 4:10-12

ACTS 3:18-26

(B) CHRIST'S AUTHORITY IN HIS WORD:

JOHN 12:48-50

We shall NOT be judged by:

Ø     Feelings, opinions, human judgments

Ø     Preachers, teachers, pastors

Ø     Synods, councils, assemblies, associations

Ø     Parents, families, friends, loved ones

Ø     Human creeds, catechisms, manuals, disciplines

JOHN 5:22; ACTS 17:30,31; ROMANS 2:16; cf. GALATIANS 1:11,12

Ø     Is there authority from Christ to follow any Authority other than His inspired Word?
