HADES

Hades is that place that all human souls go upon physical death. The inspired writer tells us in James 2:26; "For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead."

We find in LUKE 16:19-31 that Hades consists of two places, or compartments: one is referred to as 'Abraham's bosom' and the other is known as 'torments'. Notice that when we die, we will go to either one or the other place! Remember that the inspired Apostle Peter in his first gospel sermon on the day of Pentecost recorded in Acts 2:14-40 quoted Psalms 16:8ff about the Messiah's Spirit not being left in 'Hades', nor His body seeing corruption, that is, rotting in the grave! ACTS 2:31

Notice also that Jesus told the thief on the cross that he would be with Him on THAT DAY in PARADISE! LUKE 23:42,43. Of course we understand that Jesus wasn't in the place of torments, so He was in the other part of Hades, called 'Abraham's bosom'.
